South African Court Sets Aside Govt's Huge Nuclear Deal

The procurement of 9.6 gigawatts of nuclear energy has been declared unlawful and unconstitutional by the Western Cape High Court, and the all agreements that South Africa pursued with Russia and the US are now invalid.

SAFCEI has been active in opposing this potentially corrupt nuclear deal since 2014, when the organisation became concerned by the indications given that South Africa’s energy future was being decided behind closed doors by foreign business interests.
