New Tunisia PM Likely Appointed to Work on Failing Economy

President Kais Saied decided on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 to terminate the duties of Najla Bouden Romdhane the country's first woman prime minister, who was appointed on October 11, 2021.

Former central bank executive Ahmed Hachani has been appointed as her replacement.

Tunisia has been experiencing a weakened economy and Hachini has been tasked by the president to help the country overcome the "colossal challenges" it faces.
