Bobi Wine's Family Flees Uganda for Children's Safety

Opposition leader Bobi Wine's wife Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi has reportedly left the country for the U.S. Media reports in the country indicate she would be joining her children who left the country days before the January 14 general elections. In January 2021, Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, claimed he had received credible reports that President Yoweri Museveni had planned to abduct his children during the election period. WIne has disputed his loss to Museveni in the January presidential elections, alleging fraud. Museveni has dismissed allegations of vote-rigging, calling the election "the most cheating-free" since independence from Britain in 1962. Meanwhile, feminist activist Stella Nyanzi has also fled Uganda for Kenya after her friends, family and partner were allegedly abducted.
