Former VP Boakai Elected President in Liberia, Weah Concedes

Former Vice President Joseph Boakai has won the Presidential election in Liberia, narrowly defeating incumbent President George Weah, who has conceded. Boakai, who served as vice president under former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for 12 years, was narrowly defeated by Weah in 2017.

While conceding defeat, Weah called on his supporters to follow suit but regroup to begin preparation to retake power in 2029.
