November 14 Run-Off for Liberia's Poll Frontrunners Weah, Boakai

Liberia's National Elections Commission has announced the results of the October 10 polls.

Election frontrunners President George Weah of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and former vice president Joseph Boakai of the Unity Party (UP) will go into a run-off on November 14, 2023.

Weah received 43.83% of votes cast (804,087 votes), while Boakai received 43.44% of votes cast (796,961).

None of the 20 candidates was able to secure more than 50% of votes cast in the first round of voting.

The House of Representatives elections delivered some shocks, with the majority of the 65 members losing their reelection bids, including some senior and some veteran members.
