Was That South Africa's Finance Minister Gordhan's Swan Song?
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has been at the centre of many political storms over the years and speculation is once again heating up on his possible dismissal, particularly since Brian Molefe the former CEO of power utility Eskom has been appointed as a member of parliament. His appointment is seen as influenced by the Gupta family, close friends of President Jacob Zuma. The Guptas have been accused of state capture by the previous public protector Thuli Madonsela, for influencing the appointment of ministers to key portfolios that would benefit themselves and their business interests.
