Kenyans Urged to Stay Off Roads, Vacate Homes as Flooding Worsens

Heavy rains continue to batter Kenya, causing widespread devastation and displacing residents across the country. In the hard-hit North Rift region, floodwaters have inundated farms, destroying crops and forcing over 400 families from their homes.

The Kenya Red Cross Society reported dozens of deaths and over 110,000 displaced people nationwide. But their rescue efforts have saved 180 lives. Infrastructure hasn't been spared either, with damaged roads and disrupted transportation services further hindering relief efforts.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan Meteorological Department predicts continued heavy downpours and officials and humanitarian organizations are urging Kenyans to take precautions. This includes avoiding flooded areas, seeking higher ground when necessary, and staying off the roads during heavy rain.
