Condom Distribution in Zimbabwe Prisons Sparks Heated Debate
Legislators and civil rights advocates in the country are currently debating whether to allow access to condoms in prisons to prevent the spread of HIV and Aids, and other sexually transmitted infections. Same-sex activity is illegal and this would conflict with providing condoms in prisons, which could be seen as "condoning" what is largely peddled in society as an "abomination".
