Rwanda Endorses Bill Ratifying Rwanda-UK Migration Treaty

The Cabinet meeting on January 25, approved a bill ratifying a migration agreement between Rwanda and the UK, which seeks to protect refugees and migrants, according to a statement issued by the Office of Prime Minister, writes Emmanuel Ntirenganya for The New Times.

In December 2023, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's urgent proposal to restart sending asylum seekers to Rwanda was passed in parliament, overcoming a rebellion by many of his own MPs, revealing deep divisions within his party.
