We Aren't Safe Anywhere, Say South Africa's Women

There has been an outpouring of grief after a number of women and young girls have been either abducted, raped or killed at the hands of men. A man has been charged with the murder of University of Cape Town student Uyinene Mrwetyana while boxing champion Leighandre Jegels was allegedly shot and killed by her former partner. Six-year-old Amy-Lee de Jager was abducted in front of her school, and has been found and returned to her family.

South African women are using #AmINext on Twitter after their hopes of missing 18-year-old UCT student Uyinene Mrwetyana returning home were shattered. A 42-year-old man confessed to killing and raping Mrwetyana in a post office in Claremont, Cape Town, close to a police station.
