The Speaker of Parliament is under pressure to defer the State of the Nation address by President Jacob Zuma, scheduled for next Thursday 8 February. Political parties have written to Baleka Mbete questioning the logic of having President Zuma address the nation, after the constitutional court ruling that confirmed that he had violated his oath of office. The EFF wants to table a motion of no-confidence in the president, and for the motion to be debated before SONA.
