Fugitive Cleric Bushiri's Family Barred From Leaving Malawi

Self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri's daughters and mother-in-law have reportedly been stopped from leaving Malawi for Kenya to seek medical treatment. Meanwhile, a court application preventing Bushiri and his wife Mary from being re-arrested in Malawi has been granted. This comes after Malawian police officers went to the the cleric's home to detain him. Bushiri and his wife fled from South Africa to Malawi after being granted bail in 2020. They're facing charges of theft, money laundering and fraud in connection with an alleged U.S.$6,7 million investment scheme.
