Militia's Parallel Govt Plan for Sudan Draws More Criticism

Despite Sudan's Foreign Affairs Ministry declaring that the parallel government plan at Kenya's talks "threatens peace and security in the region, and encourages terrorism and genocide", the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and allied political and armed groups have signed a 16-page "charter" to establish a governing authority over areas it controls. The rebels are in power in much of western Sudan, including most of the Darfur region.

A patient in the MSF-supported Nyala Teaching Hospital in South Darfur received treatment for injuries caused by airstrikes on February 3, 2025. MSF has since been forced to withdraw from the North as violence escalates.
